About project

Leonardo Fernandez is a jeweler based out of Australia who specializes in crafting specialized jewelry with a personal touch.

What we Built

This was our first attempt at building a headless website. We built it using the Gatsby framework with Strapi as the CMS. We decided to use the GSAP library animations. The site's hosted using Firebase hosting, with Firebase functions used to handle any enquiries submitted on the site and store them on Firestore.

Challenges

Initially, we decided to use Silverstripe as our CMS but decided not to as it did not have proper integration with Gatsby. Instead, we decided to use Strapi when looking for an alternative CMS. A lot of optimization was put in to make the animations fluid and to work without any hitches. The gallery page proved to be another challenge due to the custom scroll animation.

Result

We successfully built our first headless website that was snappy and with a lot of custom animations using the Gatsby framework.
